7th Grade Art Projects: Painting, Designing, Crafting, And Drawing

Help your 7th-grade students reach new artistic heights by taking basic art concepts and various art styles and making them their own. Your students’ creativity will flourish and their skill set will be strengthened as they take on these various art projects. Watch as your students produce what looks like complex activities using simple methods and basic supplies.

These projects can be taken and adapted to suit not only the artistic abilities of your learners but can also take their interests into consideration. You can do most, if not all, of the listed tasks using materials you probably already have.

1. Collective Rock Painting

Have your students contribute to the collective by working together to create this mesmerizing natural masterpiece. You could even expand this assignment by including other classes or even the entire school! Get your students to go on a hike prior to doing this to pick their own rock.

2. Crayon Resist Art

Using just crayons, paper, paints, and a paintbrush, your students can achieve this cool effect. Whether your learners create colorful patterns or keep the background all one color, this desired look is easy to achieve!

Pair this activity with your next biology lesson! This is an excellent art idea that can be integrated across the curriculum. Your students can color their photos in to really make their work pop and so their hard work creating details will be noticed.

This craft project is a great addition to your next math lesson. You middle school students can use stencils to create this interesting design effect. You can create the stencils ahead of time as the instructor or you can have the students create them themselves.

Have your students take name writing to the next level but create pictures of things they love out of the letters in their name. This lesson could easily turn into a lesson on shading if you want your students to create a 3D letter effect.

Have your students tap into their identity by expressing it in map form. They can either make their drawing into grid sections or they can create their own islands. This is one of the art activity ideas that can be connected back to their cultures, families, and heritages.

Send your students to the salon as they design their own crazy hair day artwork. They can experiment with color as they work on their backgrounds. They can learn about the line as well as form as they fill in their hair. The teacher or assistant can print out their pictures.
