Find Love Everywhere With Micro-Connections

Love Is Everywhere

The search for true love can, for some, be a never-ending quest. But what if someone told you that you’ve already found it — and it’s available all the time? With anyone you happen to encounter?

“Love is not a category of relationships. Nor is it something ‘out there’ that you can fall into, or — years later — out of,” explains Barbara Fredrickson, PhD, in her book  Love 2.0.  “Love blossoms virtually anytime two or more people — even strangers — connect over a shared positive emotion .”

Fredrickson, who teaches in the psychology department at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, calls these moments of connection “positivity resonance.” This expansive, science-based approach to love offers us many chances to experience it in the course of a single day. While it’s not easy to set aside the Western idea that  true love  must be exclusive, lasting, and intimate, we have a lot to gain by letting it go.

That 90-second conversation you had with the stranger this morning while walking your dog? If there was eye contact, a sense of connection, and mutual respect — that’s love. Whenever we exchange smiles or friendly gestures with strangers , or take a little extra time to have warm exchanges with people we see every day, those “micro-moments of positivity” change us at the biological level.

Princeton University neuroscientist Uri Hasson, PhD, a pioneer in neural mirroring (also known as “brain coupling”), examined brain scans of subjects in conversation. What he found was surprising, Fredrickson writes.

“Far from being isolated to one or two brain areas, really clicking with someone else appears to be a whole brain dance in a fully mirrored room.” In good communication, she continues, “two individuals come to feel a single, shared emotion . . . distributed across their two brains.”

The vagus nerve is also involved in forging personal connections . It stimulates the facial muscles necessary for making eye contact and synchronizing our expressions with others; it even helps the tiny muscles in the inner ear better track another voice amid background noise. We appear to be programmed to harmonize with fellow humans.

Micro-moments of positivity resonance also improve our health, she notes. “People who experience more caring connections with others have fewer colds and lower blood pressure, and they less often succumb to heart disease and stroke, diabetes,  Alzheimer’s disease , and some cancers.”

Much of Fredrickson’s positivity research grew out of her study of loving-kindness meditation. (For more on this practice, listen to her guided meditations .) It involves focusing on feelings of love, compassion, and goodwill toward yourself and others. It “condition[s] your heart to be more open,” she writes.

And when our hearts are open, love happens. All day.

Try It at Home: Find Love

  • Make it a habit to look at people’s faces — at the coffee shop, the dog park, the department store. You’ll be more available to exchange a smile or a few friendly words.
  • Hold doors open for others when you get the chance.
  • Search for micro-moments with your family. Sit on the porch for a few minutes before bed; get up a little earlier so you can have breakfast together; call your sweetheart at lunch. It all adds up .

Love is Everywhere...

Favorite Quote: "So shines a good deed in a weary world."

You know how everyone says stuff like ‘Oh they are too young, they don’t know love’ or ‘You’re just a teen it won’t last long’? Maybe they think they are right or maybe they just never had a true love. I believe love comes when you’re not looking, it can come at any age. You can make love last or have it fade. Love can be near or far. Love is everywhere. Who is it that decides love? It’s up to you. Although it seems like everyone else has an input on your life. It’s not right. Why should they judge you on who you love or tell you you don’t really? You may see something in that person that others just don’t. What if they just are jealous because they haven’t found someone to love? That makes sense, since they don’t love they don’t want you to. Some people let what others say affect their love and they fade it away. Why? You should love who you want no matter what they say right? If only more people would listen to that... Teen love can be real. That isn’t always just a word thrown around, it can mean something. People all over the world marry their high school sweetheart. I always dreamed about being one of them. Most people claim to have loved as a teen but then turn around and say it’s not true. Or they don’t believe in it but then one day there will be someone who walks into their lives and changes their mind. Wouldn’t that be great? Everyone has love somewhere some just need to find it. Others need to stop looking so desperately. It will come on it’s own. It seems difficult. Love can be, but if you find that one person who you love don’t let go. Everyone will talk but hear the good not the bad and when you fight don’t give up. Overall love is a beautiful thing do you really want to throw it away?

My first love.

Love is in the air, love is everywhere! First feelings are always special, new, unexplored, coupled with childish innocence and a pure vision of the world. It may sound ridiculous, but the fist time I felt that I’m alive, was the moment I felt in love for the first time. It was long time ago, at the village of my grandparents. I was 7-year-old boy and parents brought me to grandma for the whole summer. She was a 7-year-old girl, a granddaughter of my grandmother’s friend. We lived nearby and grandmothers often visited each other. The first time I saw her, I decided that she was the most perfect human being on the earth. The only presence of her nearby made my feel happy and delighted. Despite of my young age, I’ve understood that the world is made of love and it’s one of reasons that inspires mankind to live and create. I even have written my first poem: The moment I wake up I think of love The purity and gloss About you and come across This light is you I love you! We spent much time together, we had endless themes to talk about! In the garden we had a special place, where we dreamed and talked. One day I climbed on the biggest apple tree to pick ripe apples for her and cut out hearts on them. This basket of love apples should be my love confession. While I was doing this, I didn’t mention that she came and was sitting and watching me for a while. I felt that she hugged me from the back and we continued sitting side-by-side and eating those love apples. And at the end we kissed. It was funny and unusually. From those time we haven’t kissed, but kept warm relations. When I returned to my hometown, we wrote each other more than a year, but one day she didn’t answer. I like to pick this memory from my pocket on a nasty day, and life turns bright. The memories are so deep and clear, as I’m still a little

boy, hanging around the gardens and singing the beautiful song about love.

Facts: On August 15, 1990, Crisaldo Alberto (Crisaldo) and hiscousin, Allan Perez (Allan), were walking to their respective homes after spending time at the house of Crisaldo's father. Since the pavement going to Crisaldo's house followed a narrow pathway along the local shrubs called banganga, Allan walked ahead of Crisaldo. Suddenly, Crisaldo felt the piercing thrust of a bladed weapon on his back, which caused him to cry out in pain. He made a quick turnaround and saw his attacker, petitioner, also known as "Iyo (Uncle) Kingkoy." Petitioner stabbed Crisaldo again but only hit the latter's left arm. When Allan heard Crisaldo's outcry, he rushed to Crisaldo's side which caused petitioner to run away. Allan then brought Crisaldo to his father's house where Crisaldo's wounds were wrapped in a blanket. Crisaldo was then brought to the Peñaplata Hospital where he was given first aid and then transferred to theDavao Medical Center where he stayed for three weeks to recuperate from his wounds. Subsequently, petitioner was charged with Frustrated Murder. During his arraignment, petitioner pleaded "not guilty." Petitioner's defense consisted mainly of denial. On July 5, 1994, the RTC rendered its Decision convicting the petitioner. Petitioner appealed his conviction to the CA, which affirmed the decision in toto. Issue: Whether the accused was guilty of frustrated murder. Held: No. It must be stressed that it is not the gravity of the wounds alone which determines whether a felony is attempted or frustrated, but whether the assailant had passed the subjective phase in the commission of the offense. In homicide cases, the offender is said to have performed all the acts of execution if the wound inflicted on the victim is mortal and could cause the death of the victim barring medical intervention or attendance. If one inflicts physical injuries on another but the latter survives, the crime committed is either consummated physical injuries, if the offender had no intention to kill the victim; or frustrated or attempted homicide or frustrated murder or attempted murder if the offender intends to kill the victim. Intent to kill may be proved by evidence of: (a) motive; (b) the nature or number of weapons used in the commission of the crime; (c) the nature and number of wounds inflicted on the victim; (d) the manner the crime was committed; and (e) words uttered by the offender at the time the injuries were inflicted by him on the victim. In the present case, the intent to kill is very evident and was established beyond reasonable doubt through the unwavering testimony of Crisaldo on the manner of execution of the attack as well as the number of wounds he sustained. Crisaldo was stabbed from behind by petitioner. When Crisaldo turned around, petitioner continued his assault, hitting Crisaldo on the left arm as the latter tried to defend himself. The treacherous manner in which petitioner perpetrated the crime is shown not only by the sudden and unexpected attack upon the unsuspecting victim but also by the deliberate manner in which the assault was perpetrated. Nonetheless, petitioner failed to perform all the acts of execution, because Allan came to the aid of Crisaldo and petitioner was forced to scamper away. He did not voluntarily desist from stabbing Crisaldo, but he had to stop stabbing when Allan rushed to help Crisaldo and recognized petitioner. Thus, the subjective phase of the crime had not been completed. Moreover, the prosecution failed to present testimonial evidence on the nature of the wounds sustained by Crisaldo. No evidence in this case was introduced to prove that Crisaldo would have died from his wound without timely medical attendance. It is well-settled that where there is nothing in the evidence to show that the wound would be fatal if not medically attended to, the character of the wound is doubtful; hence, the doubt should be resolved in favor of the accused and the crime committed by him may be declared as attempted, not frustrated murder.

Chinese ink painters of the Republican period (1911–1949) creatively engaged with a range of art forms in addition to ink, such as oil painting, drawing, photography, and woodblock prints. They transformed their medium of choice in innovative ways, reinterpreting both its history and its theoretical foundations. Juliane Noth offers a new understanding of these compelling experiments in Chinese painting by studying them as transmedial practice, at once shaped by and integral to the modern global art world. Transmedial Landscapes and Modern Chinese Painting shines a spotlight on the mid-1930s, a period of intense productivity in which Chinese artists created an enormous number of artworks and theoretical texts. The book focuses on the works of three seminal artists, Huang Binhong, He Tianjian, and Yu Jianhua, facilitating fresh insights into this formative stage of their careers and into their collaborations in artworks and publications. In a nuanced reading of paintings, photographs, and literary and theoretical texts, Noth shows how artworks and discussions about the future of ink painting were intimately linked to the reshaping of the country through infrastructure development and tourism, thus leading to the creation of a uniquely modern Chinese landscape imagery.

From the book, Acoustics of Empire, edited by Peter McMurray and Priyasha Mukhopadhyay -- the complete work is Open Access and available from Oxford University Press. This chapter explores the interaction and dialogue between early modern and colonial understandings of sound, its physical properties, and affective potential. I examine a range of sources in Bengali, Hindi, and Urdu to consider how ideas and vocabularies related to the interpretation of sound and music evolved in the nineteenth century.

Essay on Power Of Love

Students are often asked to write an essay on Power Of Love in their schools and colleges. And if you’re also looking for the same, we have created 100-word, 250-word, and 500-word essays on the topic.

Let’s take a look…

100 Words Essay on Power Of Love

The magic of love.

Love is like a superpower that lives inside every person. It’s more than just a feeling; it’s a force that can make incredible things happen. When people care deeply for each other, they often become kinder and more willing to help. Love can turn a bad day into a good one and can make us feel safe and happy.

Love Brings People Together

Love has the power to bring people together. It doesn’t matter where you are from or what language you speak; love is something everyone understands. Friends and families stick together because of love, and it can even make strangers act like friends.

When you’re hurt or sad, love can be like a warm hug that makes you feel better. It’s like medicine for the heart. People who are loved often heal faster because they have happy thoughts and the support of others.

Love Inspires

Love can make you do amazing things. It gives you the courage to try new things and the strength to keep going, even when things are tough. Because of love, people have made beautiful music, art, and stories that we all enjoy.

Even when everything else changes, love can last. It’s a bond that doesn’t break easily. Love from our family, friends, and pets stays with us, making our lives brighter and full of joy.

250 Words Essay on Power Of Love

The strength of love.

Love is a magical feeling that can change everything. It’s like a superpower that all of us have, but not everyone uses it to its full potential. Love is not just about liking someone a lot or the warm feeling you get when you hug your family. It’s a force that can make impossible things possible.

Love in Families

In families, love is the glue that holds everyone together. When parents love their children, they work hard to give them a good life. They teach them right from wrong and help them grow into strong adults. This love doesn’t need words; it shows in actions like a packed lunch or a bedtime story.

Friendship Love

Love is also what makes friendships last. When friends care for each other, they stand by one another during tough times. They share laughter and wipe away tears. This kind of love makes everyone feel like they belong and that they are never alone.

Love Brings Peace

Love is powerful because it can bring peace. When people love and respect each other, they don’t fight. They work together to solve problems and make the world a better place. Love can stop wars and help people from different places get along.

In conclusion, love is a mighty power that can change lives. It can make us do great things for others and for ourselves. When we love, we become the best version of ourselves. So, let’s use the power of love every day to make our world a happier and more peaceful place.

500 Words Essay on Power Of Love

What is love.

Love is a feeling that is hard to describe in words, but we all know it when we feel it. It’s like a warm hug from a friend or the cozy feeling you get when you’re wrapped up in a blanket. Love can be between family members, friends, or even people and their pets. It’s like a special bond that connects one heart to another.

Love Makes Us Strong

When we talk about the power of love, we mean that love can make us do amazing things. Imagine you’re trying to lift a really heavy box. It’s tough, right? But if that box had something very important to someone you love, you might find the strength to lift it. That’s because love gives us extra energy and courage. It’s like when a mother lifts a car to save her child – love makes her stronger than she ever thought she could be.

Have you ever fallen down and gotten a scrape? It hurts, but when someone you love puts a bandage on it and gives you a hug, it starts to feel better. Love has a special power to heal our bodies and our feelings. When we’re sad or hurt, a simple act of love, like a kind word or a smile, can make the pain go away faster.

Love is like glue; it sticks people together. When we love someone, we want to be near them, talk to them, and share things with them. It doesn’t matter if people are from different places, speak different languages, or look different. Love doesn’t care about those things. Love can bring people together and create friendships that last a lifetime.

Love Teaches Us

Love is also a great teacher. When we love someone, we learn to share, to be kind, and to listen. We learn that other people’s feelings are just as important as our own. Love teaches us to be better friends, better family members, and better people. It’s like going to school, but instead of learning math or science, we’re learning how to care for each other.

Love Changes the World

The power of love can change the whole world. When people love and care for each other, they work together to make things better. They help those who are in need, they protect the environment, and they make sure everyone is treated fairly. It’s like a team working together to win a game, but the game is making the world a happier and safer place for everyone.

In conclusion, love is a powerful force that can do wonders. It can make us strong, heal our wounds, bring us together, teach us important lessons, and even change the world. Just like the sun makes flowers grow, love makes us grow into kind and caring people. So, let’s spread love everywhere we go, because with love, we can do anything!

That’s it! I hope the essay helped you.

Love Actually

By richard curtis, love actually quotes and analysis.

‘Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion’s starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don't see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often, it's not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it's always there—fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know, none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge—they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I've got a sneaky feeling you'll find that love actually is all around.’ David

Love Actually begins with this quote, spoken by David and set to real-life scenes from Heathrow Airport of people greeting one another. The quote sets the uplifting tone of the movie, reminding the audience that love is not always a grand gesture and it is not always convenient, but it is always possible.

[ in English ] 'It's my favorite time of day, driving you.' [ in Portuguese ] 'It's the saddest part of my day, leaving you.' An Exchange between Jamie and Aurelia

Jamie and Aurelia’s relationship is restricted to hand signals and facial expressions, as they are separated by a language barrier. This quote, an exchange they share just before their working relationship is about to end, shows how similarly they feel and the fact that they reciprocate one another's feelings in spite of not being able to communicate.

"But you know the thing about romance is that people only get together right at the very end." Sam

Spoken by Sam to his stepfather, Daniel, this quote refers to the public imaginary about romance movies. Even the 10-year-old Sam knows that often love does not articulate itself until the 11th hour.

"Would you wait around to find out if it's just a necklace, or if it's sex and a necklace, or if, worst of all, it's a necklace and love? Would you stay, knowing life would always be a little bit worse? Or would you cut and run?" Karen

After the nativity play, Karen confronts Harry about the necklace she found in his jacket. She outlines all her concerns about what the necklace symbolizes and asks Harry what he would do in her position.

"But for now, let me say, without hope or agenda, just because it's Christmas, and at Christmas you tell the truth: to me, you are perfect, and my wasted heart will love you, until you look like this." Mark's signs

This quote is not spoken, but written on a poster. Mark writes a humorous and heartfelt message to Juliet professing his love for her. He suggests that he loves her and will continue to love her, but also implies that he expects nothing from it.

"As dire chance and... and...and fateful cockup would have it, here I am, mid-50s, and without knowing it I've gone and spent most of my adult life with a...with a chubby employee. And...and much as it grieves me to say it, it...it might be that the people I love is, in fact...you." Billy Mack

At the end of the movie, Billy leaves a glamorous party at Elton John's house to spend the evening with his manager, Joe. He suggests that he had an epiphany that Christmas is about spending time with the people one loves, and that the person he loves most, in spite of his better judgment, is Joe.

Harry : Tell me, exactly, how long is it you’ve been working here? Sarah: Two years, seven months, three days, and I suppose what, two hours? Harry: And how long have you been in love with Karl, our enigmatic chief designer? Sarah : Um, two years, seven months, three days, and, I suppose, an hour and thirty minutes. Harry and Sarah

Harry is Sarah's boss, and in this exchange, somewhat early in the film, he encourages her to go after her office crush, Karl. She confides in him that she has been in love with Karl almost as long as she has worked there.

"When she first mentioned what's about to happen, I said, 'Over my dead body.' And she said, 'No, Daniel, over mine...'" Daniel

Daniel says this of his late wife at her funeral. He introduces the song that Joanna wanted him to play by telling those assembled about the exchange they had about it right before she died, in which she insisted, with good humor, that it was precisely the song she wanted to be played.

"Certainly sir. Ready in the flashiest of flashes!" Rufus the jeweler

When Harry purchases a necklace for Mia, his secretary, he wants the jeweler to complete the transaction quickly, so that Karen does not see. The jeweler says this line, insisting that he will do the wrapping very quickly, but then proceeds to take his time in a particularly drawn-out and humorous way.

"I’m on shag highway, heading west!" Colin

Colin assures his doubting friend, Tony, that going to America to look for a girlfriend is a good idea. He humorously uses this metaphor to suggest that he is going to score sexually as soon as he gets to Wisconsin.
